The Gym
Train independently at our strength gym in Tonbridge. Full access to specialist equipment — no waiting, no crowds, no chain-gym compromises.
Explore the gym →Sportive Tricks is a strength gym and coaching service on Drayton Road, Tonbridge — founded by Jason Swalwell and Helen Redhead, both world champion powerlifters and full-time coaches with decades of experience in strength training, personal training, and sports performance.
The gym is set up for people who want to train properly: racks, free weights, machines, and specialty kit chosen because it is useful in a real session. You can train independently, work with a coach, or combine both — whatever fits how you actually live.

Strength training should be accessible — whether you are building fitness, coming back after injury, training for a sport, or simply want to feel stronger and more confident in daily life.
We keep the atmosphere straightforward: serious about training, relaxed about everything else. No cliquey vibes, no hard sell. Train at your pace, for your reasons, with support when you want it.
Many people use the gym on their own schedule. Others add personal training or online coaching for programming, technique, nutrition, and accountability. We meet you where you are and build from there.

Good technique comes first — it keeps you safe, makes progress sustainable, and means the work you put in actually counts. Our coaching is never one-size-fits-all; we tailor programming to your goals, experience, and what you are working with right now.
Between them, Jason and Helen cover strength and conditioning, personal training, sports nutrition, injury rehabilitation, weight management, and working with older adults — in person at the gym or online if you are not local.

Head Coach
My coaching style is based around improving technique. Technique is everything as far as I am concerned, the ability to execute a movement pattern or skill under extreme pressure is the most important skill you can have at any level of sport.

I am a people person and this is reflected in my coaching style. Whilst always striving for good technique and progression, I am aware of individual barriers and strengths. I work with and around these.
